Caroline Hwang

Their art work is based on figurative imagery inspired from other cultures and combined ethnicities.
Iona Rozeal Brown’s paintings were last seen in Los Angeles at the International Paper Show at the Hammer Museum and will be featured in a solo show at Spelman College Museum of Fine Arts early 2004. Brown’s paintings are a mixture of eroticized geishas in black face. Her art address the theme of Afro- Asian allegory while exploring the global influences of hip hop, commercialism and American Culture as fetish. Brown received her MFA in painting from Yale University and currently resides in Washington D.C.
Oakland Artist Chris Lindig’s paintings depicts Drug Lords, Gurus,Heavy Metal Freaks and their groupies.Lindig’s art has it’s own unique style of overlapping gang like lettering on top of cryptic and humorous scenarios. His pallet and painting style are reminiscent of Indian or African Film Posters. Lindig’s turbo Icons seem to be lifted from some sort 1970’s bad tv sitcom . Currently Lindig has been designing numerous skate board graphics for Anti Hero and has been featured in Loyal and Arkitip Magazines.
Kamau Amu Patton comes to New Image Art via San Francisco. His beautifully designed stenciled images are contemporary representations of Yoruba derived Afro-American/Caribbean art .
Caroline Hwang is a recent graduate of Art Center College of Design and was one third of the New Image Art show “The Puddle Jumpers”. Hwangs work are often embroidered and silk screened fabric collages based on narrative situations. Her work is intricately rendered and original in it’s depiction of men and women in various settings.
